Piercing
Piercing
[Available in French only]
In Piercing, Petra Mueller and Larry Tremblay explore the city, theatre of urban landscapes, where everything becomes possible. In a troubling tale, casting Marie-Hélène, a runaway teenager from Chicoutimi, newly arrived in Montréal, Larry Tremblay offers us an unblinking look at adolescence, at those deeply significant, first painful experiences on the brink of emancipation. In Petra Mueller’s images, scattered throughout the text, the city serves as a backdrop to mysterious inscriptions. Each photograph is marked with signs in blue ink, as characters trail their shadows like stains across its surface.
United under the banner Trilogie urbaine, the three books Venir après, Piercing, and Déviances poétiques are works deeply rooted in the urban reality. The artists and authors brought together here share a lavish, unbridled imagination, marked by an often raw and sometimes hard reality.
DES PHOTOGRAPHES
The DES PHOTOGRAPHES collection provides an open site for crossovers between genres, a meeting place where photography and writing can come together in a single work with two points of entry. In these publications, which combine photography and writing, both disciplines play determining roles, while remaining inseparable in the work. Without subordinating one to another, these books explore different but complementary processes where photography and writing combine.
