Session 5
Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf

On May 7, 2014 at 7 pm

Fins périples dans les faisceaux du manège global (version muette)

Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf presents the preparatory work, in the form of a slide show preceded by a brief talk, for a literary show in images. Taking the form of a light manifesto, the talk and slide show explore the vernacular and through its characters and narrative levers – guns and all kinds of props – as ready-mades. Having established the outline of a story, whose unfolding is left up to the spectators, nearly 600 images collected and ordered by the artist will silently follow one after the other.

The artist and author Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf studied art history at UQÀM. His works have been exhibited in Quebec at venues including the Clark gallery, Articule, the Galerie de l’UQÀM and the Musée régional de Rimouski. He was a finalist for the Pierre Ayot award in 2013. Le Quartanier has published his works Fashionably Tales, une épopée des plus brillants exploits (2007), Téléthons de la grande surface (inventaire catégorique) (2009, nominated for the Émile Nelligan award) and Cavalcade en cyclorama. His installation Peinture canadienne is on view until 12 June in the Sightings satellite exhibitions program of the Leonard & Bina Ellen Art Gallery.
