Call for exhibition projects
Deadline: October 15, 2024
Dazibao’s programming consists of projects submitted to our annual call for proposals and projects selected at the center's initiative. Artists and curators are invited to submit proposals for projects where image-based practices are central. We encourage applicants to consult our mandate as well as our archives to know more about Dazibao’s programming. Proposals may be submitted for either the exhibition space or the screening room. Artists are also invited to consider that their work might be taken into consideration for any number of Dazibao’s programming activities.
Though “image-based practices” commonly refer to photography, video, and film, Dazibao seeks, more importantly, to present works that reflect upon the effect and role of contemporary images in today’s society. Submissions are evaluated based on artistic rigor and the project’s propensity to contribute to contemporary societal discourses.
Submission requirements
• Artist statement (250 words)
• Project description (500 words)
• Website, if applicable
• Visual material: Please compile the following information and documents into a single PDF. The total weight of the PDF should not exceed 20 MB. The visual material provided must consist of works from the last 5 years.
• Up to 15 images and/or 5 minutes of video
• Images must be clearly labeled with title, material,
size/duration, year, and if applicable, the location
of the work.
• For videos, only links will be accepted and not those
requiring downloading. It is the artist's
responsibility to ensure that video links work and
that the passwords provided are correct. Please do
not provide links that will expire.
• Artist resume (maximum 3 pages)
* Please indicate directly in the file name your name, followed by the type of document. For example: YourName_MaterialVisual.
Only proposals submitted via the online form will be considered. Results are communicated within six months. Due to a high volume of submissions, only those artists whose projects have been selected will be contacted. We recognize that the preparation of a proposal requires a considerable amount of work, and we are grateful to all the artists who share their research with us.
