Instagram residency
Deadline: April 15, 2024
Dazibao is in search of the next Instagram residency artist!
From June 15 to August 15, the selected artist will do a total takeover of Dazibao’s account, using the platform to develop and share a new series of image-based works (photo, video, graphic...). We invite projects to address the platform as a medium and mode of image dissemination and to consider the broader context of Instagram as a system of communication. This of course might also involve considered use of descriptions, hashtags, stories, etc.
The residency will culminate in a digital publication produced by Dazibao, which will include an interview with the artist.
Conditions
→ Dates of residency: June 15 to August 15, 2024.
→ The artist commits to a minimum of 30 posts and a maximum of one post a day.
→ If the proposed work includes text, the artist may use the language of their choice. If such is the case, options will be discussed about how to make the work accessible to French and English-speaking users.
→ The artist will receive a fee of $2,000 CAD.
All proposals must be submitted via the following online form.
Due to a high volume of submissions, only the selected artist will be contacted. The selected artist will be contacted by May 15. We thank you for the time and care invested in your proposal.
Given the virtual nature of the residency, artists living abroad will not be required to travel to Montréal for the residency.
Questions and inquiries can be sent to info@dazibao.art.
