is a participatory art series in which, over two years, a group of young Montrealers intervenes and responds to Dazibao’s exhibition programming, collaborating with each other and their mentor, artist Veronica Mockler.

À l’image — Takeover 5 Vue d’ensemble / The Big Picture

In response to Anette Rose’s Enzyklopädie der Handhabungen: Braiding Gazes, the À l’image — Takeover collaborators think through the relationship between machine and human labor, technology and nature, asking what art is and where its essence is found. In Act II of Vue d’ensemble/The Big Picture, they layer different forms of image and juxtapose the human gesture of image-making with that of technological devices. Using the camera’s frame, they likewise employ perspective, detail, and abstraction to inform the viewer’s understanding of the image.
