This is not a lecture # 6
On December 9, 2017 from 11 am to noon
A cultural outreach activity for teenagers (and those who are young at heart!).
In connection with the exhibition Searching for the European Roller by Hillside Projects.
Brilliantly blue in colour, the European Roller is a bird with a curious history: Since inexplicably abandoning its habitat in Sweden in the late 1960s, great efforts have been made by scientists to reintroduce the species into the local landscape — but in vain.
Through their installation Searching for the European Roller, the Swedish artist duo Hillside Projects (Emily Mennerdahl & Jonas Böttern) critically and humorously challenge this drive towards reintegration, extending the case study of the Roller into a broader social metaphor for issues of migration and authority.
Join us on 9 December for a screening of the work followed by a group discussion surrounding privilege and power in an era of “fake news” and “alternative facts.”
The activity is free and open to all!
Breakfast on the house!
