We are pleased to announce that Adam Kinner and Christopher Willes have been selected for the 2018-2019 edition of Dazibao’s music residency.

Adam Kinner and Christopher Willes will be creating events that rethink listening as an embodied encounter with the exhibition. In their first event they will propose a series of scores as physical trajectories, exercises, movements, and sound environments within the exhibition space. The scores will be facilitated via binaural audio recordings, in which the physical position of the listener is integral. In a sense, in order to hear the recordings as they are conceived, the audience will be invited to embody them. In this way, the project explores the score as a living scenario, and the recording process as performance.

Come join us for this unusual experiment offering news ways of approaching art!

The performance will be preceded by Speaking near-by, a conversation that will extend the research done by the artists, Amanda Dawn Christie, Omar Elhamy & Casper Wolski, and Thomas Kneubühler, at 6 pm.

Adam and Christopher have been collaborating since 2013. Their projects generally work across music, choreography, print, and performance practices. In 2015 they created Listening Choir, a project that takes audiences on intensive sound/listening walks in urban spaces undergoing rapid change. Listening Choir has been performed since then in Calgary, Kitchener, Toronto and Birmingham (UK).
