Conceiving digital format as the most radical form to currently think image and sound, Grill uses software that allows for a total interpenetration of sound and image, where visual elements provide control data for sonic parameters and vice versa. At Dazibao, the artist will be talking about the development of her own work in relation to the specific austrian history of avantgarde film and radical art movements, with a focus on issues of perception, audiovisual relationships in the age of analogue/ digital, as well as issues of abstraction and representation.
The exhibition Electronic Sound in a Shifting Landscape, programmed by Steve Bates in collaboration with sixpackfilm and Index (Vienna), is presented from July 18 to September 13, 2014.
