Performance by Total Life + Karl Lemieux

On September 13, 2014 at 8 pm

The evening starts at 8 p.m. + performance at 9 p.m.

For the closing of Electronic Sound in a Shifting Landscape, Dazibao invites you to an original performance by Karl Lemieux and Total Life!

As for the Austrian avant-garde with their search for a global audiovisual immersion, Karl Lemieux and Total Life will offer a live performance proposing a physical experience of when light meets sound.

The exhibition Electronic Sound in a Shifting Landscape, programmed by Steve Bates in collaboration with sixpackfilm and Index (Vienna), is presented from July 18 to September 13, 2014.

Total Life is the solo project of Kevin Doria, founding member of the band Growing. Doria has participated in a number of collaborations with David Bryant (GY!BE), Jonathan Parant (Fly Pan Am), as well as filmmaker, Karl Lemieux. As Total Life, Doria has released several records with Animal Disguise Records, Brownsounds, Debacle Records, and, most recently, Important Records. He has performed across North America and Europe.

Cofounder of the Double Negative Collective, Karl Lemieux studied cinema and directed several short films. In his performances, he uses up to eight 16mm projectors to transform looped film while it is being projected. In his hands, the film is literally destroyed before the viewer’s eyes, releasing incandescent images. Inspired by the dialogue that occurs between film and sound art, Lemieux focuses on a process that involves inner sensations.
