Music residency 2018-2019

Deadline: 15 February 2018

Dazibao wishes to support the Montreal music and sound scene through a new residency initiative!

The residency program is aimed at artists working in sound, whose practices encompass electroacoustic, experimental and/or hybrid approaches, musicians and composers who wish to develop a series of musical performances* inspired by Dazibao's 2018-2019 exhibition program.

The music residency is intended to promote the live experience of music, and is envisioned as an incubator, fostering research and creation through interdisciplinary encounters where sound and the visual arts have the possibility of unfolding in a parallel manner, or even in resonance with one another. The selected artists will interact with the works presented visually and sonically, as well as with the configuration of the space.

Only proposals submitted via the online form will be considered.

Results are communicated within three months following the deadline.

- The residency consists in an access to the exhibition space for rehearsals in the morning during the week, from 10 am to 12 pm.
- The artist or collective must mention their technical needs (equipment, access to a technician, etc.) in their proposal.
- The selected artist or collective agrees to produce four musical performances from September 2018 to May 2019.
- The artist or collective will be offered a grant of $ 2,000 CAD for the series of performances.
